Boggs Birdhouses

Layafette Greens Community Garden, Detroit, MI
Boggs Birdhouses: I had the incredible opportunity to be commissioned by Compuware, through Megan Heeres, to create an installation in Lafayette Greens Community Garden in Detroit. Inspired by the creativity of students from the James and Grace Lee Boggs School, we collaborated on wooden birdhouse designs that reflected their unique visions. Through workshops, we explored how architecture and the built community influence out moods, perceptions and sense of community. The project culminated in a joyous opening celebration in the garden, bringing all of my collaborators from the Boggs School and their families to see their ideas take flight! The experience deepened my passion for engaging with children through playful and meaningful art projects.
